Chico News & Review's Arts DEVOte:
Don't be fooled. This is not an online pick-up bar for thespians. TheatreDate.com is quite simply a list of dates with the performances and auditions of every theater in Chico, Paradise and Oroville attached to them (plus links to the presenting theater). It.s clean and comprehensive, and would be a perfect one-stop shopping destination if the ability to purchase tickets to every performance was included (instead of having to follow links). Maybe A.C.T. (Alliance of Chico Theaters) could team up with it and help bring the whole production together?!

Some new features have been added to TheatreDate.com. First is a Google Groups mailing
list for the Chico-area event calendar. Click here for subscription information. A
Google Calendar has also been added, based on the current iCal file for the Chico area.
If you use Bloglines, you can subscribe to RSS feed using this link. Also, check out
the updated Links section for links to all the Chico area theatres and more.
Some people have expressed interest in contributing show reviews to the site. If you
are interested let me know at keith@theatredate.com; if there is enough interest we
can add a new section to the site.

I recently created TheatreDate.com, a comprehensive list of community theatre
performances and auditions in Chico, Paradise, and Oroville. The motivation
for this project was hearing actors complain that they didn't know about auditions,
directors complain that no one showed up to their auditions, actors and directors
complain about low show attendance, and patrons complain that they missed a show
because they dind't hear about in time. Also, I came across the
Chico Underground Show Info site and realized that something similar for local
theatre would be helpful.
It was created with a modified Word Press installation and the Event Calendar
plugin I've also set up a Google Groups mailing list, provided a
Bloglines subscription link, and set up a Google Calendar using the iCal file
provided by the Event Calendar plugin.
The hope is that directors will e-mail performance and audition info to me so that
I don't have to forage for the information on their websites...but I have conceded
the fact that I will probably have to do most of the work to keep the site updated.
There has been some interest expressed by others in writing show reviews to add to
the site, so look for that in the future. Ultimately I would like to see the site
expand beyone the Chico area, but that will only happen if people volunteer to
maintain the additional areas (I don't have the time).
I am very open to suggestions for this site, so let me know.
